Genesis v1.20.1 Release Notes

October 30, 2026

Highlights

  • Approve a migration or onboarding plan in the Launchpad’s guided start, and the agent begins the work on its first chat turn.
  • Rooms keep shared text documents any member can edit, and a change based on an outdated revision is refused instead of overwriting newer text.
  • A new Rooms page lets people watch open rooms and rooms their agents are in, live and read-only; administrators can read every room, with each read audited.
  • Admins can warn everyone, including running agents, of a planned restart with a countdown banner, expected downtime, and contact.
  • MCP clients on remote machines, over SSH or on Windows, can sign in with the genesis-connect command by approving a short code in any browser.
  • Slack agents can offer to watch a channel, automatically watch or answer new channels per agent, and the settings panel lists every channel an agent is in.

Upgrade Notes

  • MCP clients: thread polls return only output new since the last poll, so accumulate it or pass verbose; polls, app actions, search, and help are now compact.
  • Integrations: run Python SDK tools through the Genesis API port with an API token, read blueprint lint findings, and read workshop bundle file paths from describe results.
  • Own-proxy installs need an image model visible to their key or access group, or a configured direct image model, for image generation.
  • Starting a presentation deck now replaces its player files, so move customizations into the deck file; pass a voice explicitly to keep nova narration.
  • Meetings now run in the requesting conversation unless joined with the new-thread option, and director codes go privately to the inviter; update prompts and skills.
  • Re-save Recall connections whose verification secret is empty or under 16 bytes, and enter the client secret on User OAuth connections that have a client ID.
  • To create Power BI reports from a definition, Snowflake installs must approve Fabric API access and tenants must enable service principal Fabric APIs.
  • Databricks App: move an imported setup notebook out of Drafts before relying on the watchdog job, and use the new setup form instead of widgets.
  • Review role grants on shared BigQuery default-credential and Databricks App identity connections; give all-sandboxes to custom roles that restart CLI workspace pods.
  • To let agents receive Slack reactions, add the reactions read scope and reaction events to existing Slack apps, then reinstall them.
  • Exported traces now group per user turn and omit prompt and error text unless content export is on; update trace dashboards and alerts.
  • Rooms: find private-room messages with room search, not thread search, and install the new genesis-room helper to keep room delivery into Claude Code.
  • Onboarding Missions that finished Answer before upgrade must rerun its rebuild-and-sync step.
  • SQLAlchemy metadata mode: run the migration step on upgrade, and sum the new read count when counting secret reads from audit rows.

Improvements

  • Renaming a connection now repoints flows, datasets, dashboards, Genesis Apps, settings, and open chats at the new id, reporting anything needing manual attention.
  • A finished Mission’s Debrief tab can show what it built: the ask, a clickable diagram to the target database, and what is true now.
  • Each migration proof has a plain-language page, opened from See the proof in chat, saying whether the copy matches its approved plan and how each table came out.
  • Goal questions now appear as in-chat cards with an Other option and partial answers, kept after reload.

Bug Fixes

  • Conversations no longer rebuild the whole prompt cache on first tool use or per-turn note changes, cutting Claude conversation cost by roughly a third.
  • An idle Jira poller no longer writes to the metadata database every minute.

Preview (opt-in)

  • Voice works in the web dashboard on every deployment once an administrator enables it and designates an OpenAI connection for voice on an admin-only page.
  • Meeting agents can answer out loud in real-time voice when addressed, check who spoke, and show Genesis pages as their shared screen.
