Upgrade Notes
- Operators now grant administrator access with the
genesis grant-admincommand; administrator access can no longer be claimed from within the app. - On Snowflake, accept the app’s SNOWFLAKE database grant and approve Action Review as a person; service-type users can no longer approve, and new approvers wait 2h15m.
- Grant the manage skills permission to users who run skills, and view access on each repository whose files they read.
- Recheck custom skill templates that quote input placeholders; on root installs, remove LFS, filter, credential, HTTP, and submodule settings from repositories agents use.
- To keep your own Snowflake QUERY_TAG for dbt builds Genesis runs, set query_tag in the dbt profile; Genesis now sets its own tag by default.
- Update custom blueprints: move phase-level instructions into the phase description, and limit required-check scripts to installed packages.
Improvements
- Cost tracking now breaks spending down by operation, origin, and call type, and shows records outside the total.
- With auto-promote on sync off, synced blueprint changes wait for an administrator; a Versions tab promotes or rolls back.
- Power BI scans now capture schema and lineage through the Power BI Scanner API.
- Sign-in pages can offer additional OIDC identity providers alongside the primary identity provider.
- Prover decision packages approve in about a second with progress shown on every open page.
- Prover can now check a rewritten Snowflake view that reads tables from several databases.
- GenesisAuditor is now a built-in agent that cannot be edited; the first start after upgrading restores its shipped definition.
- Running Genesis Apps restart after a Genesis restart, and the dashboard uses a unified header; opt out with apps.autostart_after_restart or features.unified_chrome set to false.
Bug Fixes
- On Snowflake, Genesis keeps database sessions steady under load and confirms each configuration table at startup before creating it.
- On Cortex, long replies are no longer cut off, so creating a blueprint from existing threads works again.
- GitHub connections with a github.com address in the Enterprise URL no longer break repository tools.
- On per-user ServiceNow connections, an approved change is now made as the requesting user, not the approver.
- Databricks scans now restore table lineage for views and report when lineage inputs could not be read.
- File access is limited to approved storage roots, and exports and downloads exclude repository .git folders.
Preview (opt-in)
- Outposts now use a Genesis-native tunnel, work in the Snowflake Native App, and get a per-Outpost key; Outpost 0.7.0 or later is required.
- With skill revision tracking on, managed skill sources can be pinned to a release after reviewing its diff, with alerts for new releases.
- Coming soon: Genesis as a native Databricks App, in active development and not yet generally available.
