# Ramp Connector Tools

> Read Ramp card transactions and bills. Read-only.

## Overview

> [!NOTE]
>
> Before using this tool group, save a Ramp connection in **Config -> Connections**. See [Ramp](https://docs.genesiscomputing.com/docs/Setup/Ramp.md).

### Tool Name

```json theme={null}
ramp_connector_tools
```

### Purpose

The **ramp\_connector\_tools** group reads card transactions, and bills if turned on, from Ramp. Every action only reads; to change, approve or pay anything, use Ramp itself.

The connection's settings decide which categories can be read, and agents can't change them. Until they're set, reads are refused. See [Which rows can be read](https://docs.genesiscomputing.com/docs/Setup/Ramp.md#which-rows-can-be-read).

#### Functions Available

1. **`ramp_connector`**: List transactions and bills, and test the connection.

## Input Parameters

### `ramp_connector`

| Parameter | Required | Description |
| - | - | - |
| `action` | Yes | `TEST_CONNECTION`, `LIST_TRANSACTIONS` or `LIST_BILLS`. |
| `connection` | No | Connection name, such as `ramp.finance`. Omit it to use the default. |
| `from_date`, `to_date` | No | `YYYY-MM-DD` (UTC; `to_date` includes the whole day) or an ISO 8601 datetime. Transactions filter on when the card was used, bills on the issue date. |
| `page_size` | No | Rows Ramp reads for the page, 2 to 100. Default 50. Fewer can come back after filtering. |
| `cursor` | No | `next_cursor` from the previous page. Send the same filters with it. |
| `category_contains` | No | Keep only rows with a category containing this text. It narrows what the connection allows and can't add to it. |

## Results

A list returns `count`, rows under `transactions` or `bills`, `has_more` and `next_cursor`. When `has_more` is true there are more rows, even if this page is short or empty.

Each row has `id`, `merchant`, `amount` (a decimal string, null when the currency's precision is unknown), `amount_minor`, `currency`, `user`, `user_id`, `ramp_category`, `accounting_categories`, `accounting_fields`, `line_items`, `date`, `accounting_date` and `state`. Transactions also have `department`.

On a bill, `merchant` is the vendor, `user` is the bill's owner, and `ramp_category` is always null because Ramp has no such field on bills. Use `accounting_categories` instead.

## Example

```python theme={null}
ramp_connector(
    action="LIST_TRANSACTIONS",
    from_date="2026-10-01",
    to_date="2026-10-31",
    page_size=100,
)
```
